A boat’s name is essentially a unique registration but the advantage is that you get the opportunity to name the boat yourself, especially if you have it from new, while changing your boat’s name is easy too.

Deciding on a name can be hard but ideally it should match the personality of your boat and perhaps provide other boaters with hint of what you and your boat is all about. Uniqueness is always key to popular boat name, while some are weird and wacky, or perhaps personal, containing the name of a loved relative or perhaps even your own name.

Getting the name right is quite important because you don’t want to have to change it again months down the line. If you have a small fishing boat then you may want to focus on a name that relates to fishing, or a popular fishing location. There are plenty of opportunities out there, so consider your name carefully before you choose something you will soon come to regret.
