Clean, Restore and Polish Your Yacht’s Gelcoat
Posted in boats
Hulls which have a gelcoat layer are bound to become dull sooner or later. Once this happens, you should consider trying to restore the shiny, polished look it once had. It can be done in a nice three step process – clean, restore and then polish.
Clean – Using bleach, clean the hull. Use a brush and be careful not to damage the surface, making sure you get rid of any marine deposits which shouldn’t be there. Rinse the hull and then wait for it to dry.
Wax – Wax the layer and follow manufacturers instructions.
Polish – Once the wax has dried, it’s time to polish the surface. Using a cloth or electric buffer, polish until you see the surface looking shiny.
