Building A Boat

Building a boat is one of the most gratifying pastimes you can do. People have been building boats since primeval times, and the spirit of creating an ancient floating vessel remains true even to this day. Some things have obviously changed since ancient times. Modern building techniques and materials are used now, as well the shape of the boat itself.

This is the first thing you should decide before starting, what kind of boat you want to build. A light boat (less than 50kg) is an example. 4 Meters long, 1.5 meters wide and weighing 40kg is a good size and weight to begin with. Remember that a light boat is small, but it still needs to be large enough to remain stable.

When building a boat dimensions and shapes are important. First take a good look at existing boats to get a feel of the dimensions used.
