How To Varnish A Wooden Boat
Posted in boats
Varnishing is a brilliant way to show off the natural beauty of the wood on your boat. So here’s a few ‘how to’ tips on varnishing your boat.
First tip is, if you’re varnishing your boat outside, choose a day where it’s dry and with little wind. This will stop loose dust ruining your varnishing. You first need to primer the wood, as it creates a bond between the wood and varnish. Varnish thinly for the first few coats, and also sand in-between each coat. We recommend using fine grit sandpaper. Keep priming and sanding until the surface is smooth for best results.
When you’re happy with the surface, you need to apply the top coats, which again we recommend you sand and repeat another 3-5 times.
